"There are all sorts of writing adventures I'd like to take on, and a movie novelization was on the list. So I was excited when this opportunity fell in my lap.

"I was given an early script and could tell from the trailer that it didn't resemble the movie. So I asked for a copy of the film. Had to sign wavers and all that, but it was eventually sent to me. I literally transcribed and described every scene, hitting pause on the thing a million times. Because as a fan of novelizations, I was determined this wouldn't be one that was nothing like the movie.

"From there, my publisher gave me permission to expand on and add new scenes as much as I wanted. So I did my best to flesh out some things and add some transitional scenes that (I hoped) helped solidify characters' motivations.

"It was a fun challenge I'd gladly take on again."
